Apple has recently concluded its annual developers’ conference, WWDC 2024. Now all eyes are on the upcoming launch of the iPhone 16 series. It is set to debut in the last of 2024. The next-generation iPhones are rumored to come with some major upgrades compared to their predecessors, especially the Pro models.In addition to being powered by iOS 18, the Pro variants are also expected to introduce the Apple Intelligence feature. The iPhone 16 Pro is speculated to feature a marginally larger screen compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro. Instead of the 6.1-inch display, it is rumored to have a 6.3-inch one. This upgraded screen is anticipated to be taller and narrower, boasting a 19.6:9 aspect ratio as opposed to the previous 19.5:9. Apple may also incorporate a new Micro-Lens Array (MLA) OLED technology for this model. It results in a screen that is 20 percent brighter and potentially capable of reaching 1,200 nits for standard brightness.In terms of design, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to retain the titanium frame introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro. However, it may feature even smaller bezels, lending it a more streamlined and elegant appearance. Additionally, the Face ID components could be concealed beneath the display, further enhancing the device’s visual appeal.Similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro is also anticipated to possess a titanium frame and a USB-C port.However, an intriguing rumor suggests that the volume, power, and a new “Capture” button dedicated to camera functions might transition from physical buttons to capacitive ones. These solid-state buttons would offer users a more robust and responsive interface.

The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to come with major camera improvements, including a 48-megapixel main sensor and a possible upgrade to 48-megapixels for the ultra-wide camera. There are talks about Apple introducing a new periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, a feature currently only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to run on the new A18 Pro chipset, built on a 3-nanometer process for better performance and efficiency. Paired with 8GB of RAM, this chipset will support the latest iOS 18 features, offering advanced AI capabilities for tasks like smart photo editing and improved Siri functions.There are also rumors about the iPhone 16 Pro having upgraded storage options, possibly reaching up to 2TB, double the current limit. This increase in storage capacity could be achieved through the use of new, more compact, and cost-effective storage technologies.

Following Apple’s usual release timeline, the iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to be announced in early September, possibly between the 3rd and 11th of the month, with sales starting a week later.

The starting price for the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to be around $999 in the US. It’s interesting to note that in India, Apple launched the iPhone 15 series with a starting price of Rs 1,34,900.
