In order to combat cheating and impersonation during the tests, the UPSC is set to implement facial recognition technology and an AI-based CCTV surveillance system. To facilitate this technological transformation, the UPSC has recently issued a tender. UPSC is inviting bids from experienced public sector undertakings. UPSC will implement AI for fighting with cheating The objective of this tender is to develop two crucial technological solutions: the first being digital fingerprint capturing system. It will also include facial recognition of candidates and QR code scanning of e-admit cards. The second solution being sought is a live AI-based CCTV surveillance service. What is digital fingerprinting capturing system The UPSC aims to improve the examination process by implementing Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication, facial recognition technology, QR code scanning of e-admit cards, and live AI-based CCTV video surveillance for monitoring purposes. The selected service provider will utilize data from the UPSC to verify candidates and conduct facial recognition procedures during the examination. According to the tender document, the facial recognition process will entail a stateless transaction involving two images – one submitted during online registration and the other taken on the day of the exam. Furthermore, a real-time attendance monitoring system equipped with GPS coordinates and timestamps will ensure that enrollment is completed within the specified time frame.
