Xiaomi is gearing up to celebrate its 10-year anniversary in India this July. Surprisingly, the company hasn’t really competed with other smartphone brands in the sub-Rs. 50,000 range until the launch of Xiaomi 14 Civi.
Xiaomi 14 civi review With the introduction of the 14 Civi, Xiaomi has completely revamped this price segment to compete with other brands in the sub-Rs. 50,000 category. The phone has a premium appearance and is designed like a top-tier smartphone with all the latest features. Xiaomi 14 civi review: Good and large display For those who prefer larger displays, the Xiaomi 14 Civi may not meet expectations. With a 6.55-inch screen size, it falls short compared to the 12R’s 6.78 inches and the Galaxy A55’s 6.6 inches. However, the Civi stands out with its AMOLED quad-curved display. It is a feature uncommon in this price range. Additionally, it offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 3000nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 460PPI, and TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification. Xiaomi 14 civi review: Camera The 14 Civi is the first Xiaomi phone to feature Leica cameras in a surprising price range. The cameras are a standout feature of the phone. It deliveres consistent and high-quality photos with excellent autofocus capabilities, as well as the ability to adapt to different lighting conditions. The device also performs well in handling videos. The integration of Leica features in the camera allows for creative experimentation with portraits. It offers various modes and filters for users to explore. In terms of selfies, the 14 Civi stands out in its price segment with its dual front cameras, delivering decent skin tones and accurate exposure. However, users may need to disable the beautification mode to avoid color flattening. Some desaturation may be noticed in low-light selfies. Xiaomi 14 civi review: Processor It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 processor. It is a powerful performance processor, but it has heating issues. The heating issue is not as much as the Google pixel 8. Xiaomi 14 civi antutu score In terms of performance benchmarks, the Xiaomi 14 Civi achieved respectable scores across the board. For instance, in the AnTuTu test, it obtained a score of 139,2401 points, which is in close proximity to the result achieved by the OnePlus 12R in the same evaluation. Furthermore, the Civi demonstrated strong performance by scoring 1931 in single-core and 4946 in multi-core tests. Moving on to the GFX Bench, the Civi managed to achieve 6,727 frames in T-Rex (120fps) and 7,091 frames in Manhattan 3.1 tests. Additionally, the device exhibited a tendency to warm up during the execution of synthetic benchmarks. Regarding software updates, Xiaomi has committed to providing a total of 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. While this may seem less impressive on paper when compared to devices such as the Google Pixel 8a and Samsung Galaxy A55, it still ensures a decent level of support for the Civi. Xiaomi 14 civi review: Battery The battery performance of the Xiaomi 14 Civi posed a significant challenge, as it comes equipped with the smallest battery capacity among its competitors. With a 4700mAh battery, the Civi falls short of the 12R and Galaxy A55, which boast 5000mAh batteries. To compensate for this, the Civi includes a 67W fast-charger brick in the box for rapid charging. In contrast, OnePlus provides a 100W brick with the 12R, while Samsung opts not to include a charger with the Galaxy A55.
