Rahul Dravid once again displayed his humility by declining the additional Rs 2.5 crore bonus offered by the BCCI after India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. Dravid made sure that all members of the senior men’s team’s support staff were equally rewarded with bonus prizes. Legendary gesture of Rahul Dravid The BCCI had announced a total prize money of Rs 125 crore for Team India. Players and Dravid received Rs 5 crore each, while the other support staff members were set to receive Rs 2.5 crore. Despite this, Dravid informed the board that he would only accept Rs 2.5 crore as a bonus.
The squad of 15 players received a reward of Rs 5 crore each, while the support staff members were given Rs 2.5 crore. The selectors and traveling reserves were each rewarded with Rs 1 crore.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and President Roger Binny presented the prize money to the team during their victory parade in Mumbai on Thursday, July 4.
Other kind gesture of Rahul Dravid Rahul Dravid has previously demonstrated similar generous gestures. In 2018, following India’s victory in the U19 Men’s World Cup, BCCI announced a prize of Rs 50 lakh for coach Dravid, Rs 20 lakh for other team members, and Rs 30 lakh for the players. Dravid had requested the Indian cricket board to distribute the prize money equally among the coaching staff. A request was granted. During the felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, Rahul Dravid praised the support staff members, recalling the T20 World Cup triumph. Additionally, the tenures of Rathour, Mhambrey, and Dilip also came to an end.
