Renowned Michelin Star Chef, restaurateur, author, filmmaker, and humanitarian Vikas Khanna has collaborated with Ek Desh, the social impact vertical of House of Omkar, to produce a 3-minute thought-provoking short film titled ‘Pinky Ka Basta’. Pinky ka basta movie review The film sheds light on the concerning issue of the high dropout rate of adolescent girls from schools. ‘Pinky Ka Basta’ narrates the stories of numerous girls who have discontinued their education. It is often due to early marriage or being forced into domestic labor. The film aims to draw attention to the detrimental effects of the pandemic on the education of adolescent girls. It is highlighting their ongoing challenges in accessing educational opportunities. According to the World Bank, secondary education can increase women’s wages by 25 percent. Empowering women and girls can greatly impact economic and societal growth. ‘Pinky Ka Basta’ encourages Indians to take action and support young girls for a brighter future. Poonam Kaul, Founder of EkDesh and House of Omkar, emphasized that education opens doors for girls and leads to a better future.  ‘Pinky Ka Basta’ aims to help girls re-enter education or skill development programs for self-reliance and independence. The initiative hopes to inspire more people to join and assist girls in achieving their full potential. EkDesh is launching the #BagsToSchool movement with ‘Pinky Ka Basta’. They are collaborating with Chef Vikas Khanna to unite NGOs, organizations, and individuals to create a supportive ecosystem for young girls.  Through awareness campaigns and crowdfunding, Ek Desh is working with Annamrita Foundation to provide nutrition and Pedal On to offer skill development and job opportunities.  The short film was created by Maximus Collabs and directed by Ashish Panda.
