Team ISRO, led by Chairman S. Somanath and Chandrayaan-3 project director P. Veeramuthuvel, was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Special Indian of the Year 2023 award. The accolade, presented by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, recognized ISRO’s pioneering strides in space exploration.
ISRO’s accomplishments in 2023 included Chandrayaan-3’s historic landing near the lunar south pole, marking a significant milestone in lunar exploration. Additionally, the positioning of Aditya-L1 at Lagrange Point 1 for continuous solar observation showcased the agency’s scientific prowess.
Acknowledging the support from the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chairman Somanath expressed gratitude for the long-term vision for the space sector over the next 25 years.
