The Karnataka government has taken action against the production of colored cotton candy and artificially colored gobi manchurian. Government also banned the sale of these products.
Reason of the banning of Gobi Manchurian
The reason behind this ban is the presence of harmful chemicals.Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao has stated that there will not be a complete ban on these items.Samples were collected from various parts of the state. They tested for cancer-causing substances.Out of 171 gobi samples, 107 tested positive for chemicals like Tartrazine, Sunset Yellow, and Carmoisine.Similarly, out of 25 cotton candy samples, 15 tested positive for chemicals like Tartrazine and Rhodamine-B.

The minister emphasized that the government has decided to crack down on the use of artificial colors in food. However, there will be no ban on the sale of natural food items like cauliflower.Violators will face severe punishment. It includes imprisonment and hefty fines.The health department will conduct awareness campaigns. Health department will also increase the monitoring to ensure compliance with the regulations. According to the reports, artificial colors are the prime reason for many types of cancer. Every state should apply the same rule.
