According to a new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) study, India’s rank in Human Development Index (HDI) value increased in 2022. It is from 0.644. India had a leading role in the GII of 2022 with a value of 0.437. This improvement is the result of reduction in gender inequality in the country.

It demonstrates the country’s success in eliminating gender inequality. The study recognizes India’s ongoing efforts to enhance the standard of living for its people. The standard of living has improved since 1990. Nonetheless, India also boasts one of the biggest gender disparities in terms of labor force participation rates, with women’s involvement at 28.3% and men’s at 76.1%, separated by 47.8 percentage points. Over the years, India has demonstrated impressive advancements in human development. The life expectancy at birth has increased by 9.1 years. The predicted number of years of education has increased by 4.6 years. The mean number of years of education has increased by 3.8 years since 1990. According to Caitlin Wiesen, the UNDP India resident representative, the GNI per capita in India has increased by almost 287 percent, This demonstrates the nation’s sustained commitment to raising economic growth and enhancing living standards for all of its residents.
