Pakistan came under fire from India for persistently bringing up the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Apart from the CAA India also discussed the Ram Temple in Ayodhya before the UN General Assembly.
Ruchira Kamboj gave a befitting reply to Pakistan
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, described Pakistan as “sadly stagnant”. She also said that it is a narrow minded and misinformed viewpoint. She said it in reaction to remarks made by Pakistan’s Ambassador Munir Akram during the UNGA plenary session. Kamboj went on to say that the delegation’s comments were like hearing the same things over and over again while the rest of the world moved on. Akram made a reference to the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the recent implementation of the CAA. It aims to provide Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians.Kamboj further expressed her disappointment. She stated that It is regrettable to witness the limited and misguided perspective of this delegation regarding matters concerning my country. Especially when the General Assembly is discussing an issue that requires wisdom, depth, and a global outlook from all its members. It seems to be lacking in this delegation.”The Indian representative’s comments were made during a statement explaining India’s stance on a resolution regarding ‘Measures to combat Islamophobia’ at the UNGA. India chose to abstain from voting. The resolution, proposed by Pakistan. It was adopted by the General Assembly with 115 nations voting in favor, none against, and 44 abstentions. It includes India, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, and the UK.
