The Mumbai Indians of the IPL have hired English bowler Luke Wood. He will replace the injured Jason Behrendorff. Wood was signed for around $62,000 (INR 50 lakh) at base pay.

In all T20 formats, Wood has claimed 147 wickets with a strike rate of 18.3. In these matches he managed an economy of 8.45. His highest performance is 5/50. IPL is scheduled to begin on March 22. Mumbai Indians has suffered several injuries. In terms of fast bowling, MI presently has Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Madhwal, Nuwan Thushara, and Arjun Tendulkar. All these are fit. After completely healing from the ankle injury, newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya will also be available as an option alongside them. Another seam-bowling all-round player on the team is West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd.
