“I took some time to think it over. Now I ultimately decided that I do not possess the financial resources required to contest.Additionally, there are other factors such as community, religion, and other winnability criteria that come into play. I realized that I may not be able to meet these criteria, so I declined the offer. I appreciate that they understood my perspective. I will not be participating in the elections,” Sitharaman mentioned at the TIMES NOW Summit 2024. Furthermore, when asked to elaborate, she emphasized, “My income, earnings, and savings belong to me personally. They are not part of the Consolidated Fund of India.”

The upcoming elections will see the BJP nominating several current Rajya Sabha members. It includes Piyush Goyal, Bhupender Yadav, Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Jyotiraditya Scindia.However, Nirmala Sitharaman has stated that she will focus on supporting other candidates rather than contesting herself. Nirmala Sitharaman is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka.She mentioned that she will actively participate in media events and campaign alongside candidates, like Rajiv Chandrasekhar. It demonstrates her commitment to the campaign trail.
