Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta delivered the verdict. Justice Khanna stated during the hearing that they have rejected all pleas regarding the reintroduction of ballot papers.The writ petitions were filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Abhay Bhakchand Chhajed, and Arun Kumar Aggarwal. The bench also issued two directions to the Election Commission of India (ECI) during the hearing. After the symbol loading process is completed, it is necessary to seal the Symbol Loading Unit (SLU). The SLU should be stored for a minimum of 45 days, as stated. A group of engineers will inspect the burnt memory in the microcontroller EVM after the results are announced, upon request from candidates with serial numbers 2 and 3. This request must be made within seven days of the results being declared. Justice Khanna also urged the election commission to consider using an electronic machine to count the paper slips. EC should explore the possibility of including a bar code for each party along with their symbol, according to Live Law’s report. The court had kept its decision pending on the petitions after a two-day hearing on April 18. On Wednesday. Court requested the ECI to provide answers to five queries regarding the functioning of EVMs.During the hearing, the bench asked the poll body to clarify the installation of the microcontroller, its programmability, the number of Symbol Loading Units, data storage period, and the sealing of the Control Unit and VVPAT.
