National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, reacting to Rajnath Singh’s vow to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, had said the country was not wearing bangles. In a sharp jibe at the INDIA bloc over remarks made by Farooq Abdullah and Mani Shankar Aiyar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India would make cash-strapped Pakistan wear bangles if it wasn’t wearing any. Earlier this month, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, reacting to Rajnath Singh’s vow to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok), said the neighbouring country was not wearing bangles and it possessed atomic bombs which could harm India. PM Modi highlighted the economic problems faced by Pakistan. “Pakistan ne choodiyan nahi pehni hain, are bhai pehna denge. Ab unko aata bhi chahiye, unke pass bijli bhi nahi hai, ab humein maloom nahi ki unke pass choodiyan bhi nahi hai (If Pakistan is not wearing bangles, we will make them wear bangles. They don’t have flour, they don’t have electricity, now I have come to know that they even have a scarcity of bangles),” PM Modi said in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, without naming Abdullah or Aiyar. An old video featuring Mani Shankar Aiyar went viral last week, in which the Congress veteran urged the Indian government to “respect Pakistan” because it had atomic bombs. Reacting to his remarks, PM Modi said last week that the Congress had been trying to spook the people of the country. He said such a weak attitude encouraged cross-border terrorism in the past. He also took a swipe at Pakistan, saying India’s estranged neighbour had been trying to sells its bombs but no one was interested because of their poor quality. PM Modi today claimed his government had seized illegal money to the tune of ₹2200 crore over the past 10 years. In Hajipur, PM Modi claimed that the RJD and Congress priorities their vote bank over the welfare of the people of Bihar. He accused the RJD of bringing “Jungle Raj” to the state. Referring to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s “Muslims should get reservation” remark, PM Narendra Modi said the Congress and RJD will snatch away the reservation provided to Dalits, backwards and tribals by the Constitution. He also claimed the leader of the Congress and the RJD were busy settling their own children.
