All we imagine as light is the debut film of payal kapadia. It was honored with the Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. This achievement also marked a significant milestone. It is the first Indian film to compete for the Palme d’Or award in almost thirty years. Last film was Shaji N Karun’s ‘Swaham’ in 1994. All we imagine as light record in Cannes Film festival 2024. This film has a great competition with works by esteemed directors like Francis Ford Coppola, Sean Baker, Yorgos Lanthimos, Paul Schrader, Magnus Von Horn, and Paolo Sorrentino. The jury was led by Greta Gerwig. She is director of ‘Ladybird’ and ‘Barbie’. It had the challenging task of selecting the winners.The team of ‘All We Imagine As Light’ joyfully made their way to the Cannes screening on May 23. Following the screening, the film garnered an impressive eight-minute standing ovation. Three years ago, Payal Kapadia was awarded ‘le prix du documentaire’ for Best Documentary at Cannes for ‘A Night of Knowing Nothing’. ‘All We Imagine As Light’ marks her debut feature film.
