Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda. He along with four others, has been acquitted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the murder case of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh. The other individuals involved in the case were Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, and Sabdil Singh. Unfortunately, one of the accused passed away during the trial. In 2019, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was found guilty by a CBI court in Panchkula for his involvement in two murder cases. These cases were related to the killings of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh.Ram Rahim and four others were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court on October 18, 2021. Additionally, the Dera chief was fined Rs 31 lakh. Gurmeet Ram Rahim cases Subsequently, he challenged all the convictions in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, but his appeal in the journalist murder case is still pending. Presently, Ram Rahim is incarcerated in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail. He is serving a 20-year jail term for the rape of two of his disciples. Ranjit Singh is the ex-manager of Dera Sacha Sauda. He was killed in 2002. According to the CBI chargesheet, Ram Rahim suspected that Ranjit Singh was responsible for spreading a letter that exposed cases of sexual abuse by the Dera chief. The CBI court confirmed that Ram Rahim was upset about the letter being circulated. He planned with others to kill Ranjit Singh. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has recently ordered Ram Rahim to surrender. He instructed the Haryana government not to grant him parole without their approval.
