Delhi water crisis: The severe water scarcity in the capital city due to high temperatures has caused residents to desperately chase after empty containers following water tankers. The population is still struggling with extreme water shortage during the heatwave. It depends on water tankers to meet their daily water requirements. Delhi water crisis ANI news agency released a video clip of Okhla Phase 2 inhabitants. It is depicting individuals frantically pursuing the water tanker to fill their containers. A few individuals even disregarded the queue and climbed onto the tanker with their pipes to fill their containers. The Delhi government has requested the Supreme Court to intervene and instruct the Haryana government to release water from Himachal Pradesh at the Wazirabad barrage. The Aam Aadmi Party’s plea for additional water from Haryana will be heard by the apex court on June 3. Delhi government action on Delhi water crisis In their petition, the Delhi government highlighted the critical water scarcity in the region due to the intense heatwave in North India. The Delhi water crisis is especially in the national capital. The petition highlighted that the unprecedented heatwave in Delhi has led to temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius in certain areas. It resulted in a significant increase in the demand for water. Consequently, frequent water supply disruptions are widespread across various regions of Delhi’s NCT. Additionally, the plea underscored that the water scarcity has severely impacted the daily routines of the city’s residents. The Delhi government asserted that additional water resources are urgently required in the NCT, as all possible steps to manage, regulate, and allocate water effectively in the capital have already been implemented.
