French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the dissolution of the parliament. He has scheduled snap elections for later this month following a European Union exit poll predicting a significant victory for Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in the European Parliament vote. According to the exit polls, the far-right party is expected to secure 32% of the vote. It surpasses the president’s Renaissance party by more than double the percentage. French President Emmanuel Macron declared that the first round of elections for the lower house National Assembly is scheduled for June 30. It is followed by the second round on July 7. Emmanuel Macron made this announcement during a national address. The initial results from France indicate that the far-right National Rally party is leading in the European Union’s parliamentary elections. It deals a blow to Macron’s pro-European centrists, as reported by French opinion poll institutes. In response to the projected defeat, Macron has decided to dissolve Parliament. He has called for snap elections. EU exit poll results CNN has reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party, in alliance with the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP), has emerged as the winner with 43.7% of the vote, as per an exit poll. In a similar vein, Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigration and nationalist party was projected to secure approximately 31-32% of the votes. It is more than twice the share of Macron’s Renaissance party. It was estimated to reach around 15%. Furthermore, Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has tendered his resignation following his party’s significant defeat in the national and European parliamentary elections held on Sunday, as reported by CNN.
