The popularity of SUVs in India has skyrocketed, with over 50% of total car sales now being attributed to them. Their demand is so high that car manufacturers rarely offer discounts on them these days. However, there is one particular model that stands out with discounts of Rs 1.50 lakh in June. Surprisingly, it’s not a Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, or Kia SUV, but the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Mahindra Jimny struggles in indian market Despite being developed with an investment of around Rs 960 crore, the Jimny has struggled to make a mark in the Indian market. It is sold in a five-door version in India. Amid much excitement, the Jimny was launched in India in June 2023. However, it hasn’t performed as expected in terms of sales volume. In FY24, it only managed to sell a mere 17,009 units.
The Jimny engine:
The Jimny is available with the reliable K15B 1.5-liter petrol engine, producing 105PS power and 134Nm torque. You can choose between a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. What makes the Jimny unique is its ALLGRIP PRO 4WD technology with a low-range transfer gear (4L mode) as standard.
The Jimny variants:
There are two Jimny variants to choose from: Zeta and Alpha. Here are the prices for each variant (ex-showroom):
1. Zeta MT – Rs 12.74 lakh
2. Zeta AT – Rs 13.84 lakh
3. Alpha MT – Rs 13.69 lakh
4. Alpha MT Dual Tone – Rs 13.85 lakh
5. Alpha AT – Rs 14.79 lakh
6. Alpha AT Dual Tone – Rs 14.95 lakh.
The Jimny on road price Exciting news! In June, the Jimny Zeta (MT/AT) comes with a Rs 50,000 discount. Meanwhile, the Jimny Alpha (MT/AT) has a bigger discount of Rs 1.50 lakh this month. If you’re thinking about the Jimny, keep in mind it competes with the Mahindra Thar, priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
