Afghanistan is set to face New Zealand in a lone Test match in September at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground in India. This will be the first time the two teams meet in the longest format of the game. The Test is scheduled to run from September 9 to 13, just a month before New Zealand’s three-Test tour of India starting on October 16. New Zealand will also tour Sri Lanka for a Test series, with dates yet to be confirmed. After this match, only England, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa will be left as the major Test-playing nations yet to play against Afghanistan in the format. Australia’s decision to cancel hosting Afghanistan in a Test in 2021 due to humanitarian reasons has postponed their meeting.
