On the second day of the Test match, India continued their strong performance from the previous day. They even broke Australia’s all-time record for the highest team total on June 29, Saturday. Previously, Australia held the record with 575/9d against South Africa in February 2024. India surpassed this total to set a new record, with South Africa once again being their opponents.India set multiple records throughout the innings. India showcased their dominance. India chose to bat first. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana led the charge for India by scoring centuries each. Their impressive partnership had the Proteas struggling to keep up, as India’s runs kept coming steadily. The duo achieved a record partnership of 292 runs, the highest ever by an opening pair in women’s Tests. Mandhana scored 149 runs before departing, while Shafali went on to reach a remarkable double century.

Shafali verma achieved a score of 205. India reached the 200-run milestone in just 194 balls. She made it the fastest in a Woman’s Test. Although she missed out on surpassing Mithali Raj’s record for the highest score for India in Women’s Tests due to a mix-up that led to her being run-out, India continued to perform well, putting up 525 runs on the board, the highest for any team in a single day’s play. Jemimah Rodrigues also scored a half-century, while Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh contributed to keeping the scoreboard moving. Unfortunately, Harmanpreet (69) and Richa (86) fell short of scoring centuries. It led to India declaring the innings at 603.
