It is a significant improvement over the 1/3.1-inch 12-megapixel sensor expected for the iPhone 16 Pro models set to launch this year. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is not the only model expected to have Tetra Prism telephoto lenses. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are also anticipated to feature this technology. Previously only available in the larger Pro Max models, Tetraprism telephoto lenses will now be included in both Pro variants. The iPhone 16 Pro models are predicted to have a minimum of 5x optical zoom and a maximum of 25x digital zoom.According to Kuo, there is a chance that the upgraded Tetraprism camera will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max at first. If this exclusivity remains, the advanced camera technology could potentially be extended to both iPhone 18 Pro models in 2026. The development of the upgraded Tetraprism camera involves creating new prisms with a shorter form factor to decrease the height of the camera module.
