Nepal new 100₹ note
The council of ministers decided to include these disputed territories in the new map of Nepal. Rekha Sharma is the government spokesperson. She is also the minister for communication, information, & technology, and shared this information during a briefing with the media on Friday. The Nepal Rastra Bank proposed the idea of updating the map on the Rs 100 banknotes. It was approved during meetings held on April 25 and May 2.
Background of this idea
India’s map from November 2019 showed Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura as part of their territory. This caused tensions between India and Nepal when Nepal released their own map in May 2020, including the same areas. The situation worsened when Nepal sent a diplomatic note to India. It expressed their objection to the opening of a road that connected Kailash Mansarovar through Lipulekh on May 8, 2020.In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that the road was completely within Indian territory, passing through Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.
