The Health Minister of Kerala reported that a 14-year-old boy passed away on Sunday. Unfortunately, after the cardiac arrest, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he succumbed at 11.30 am. The minister mentioned that the final rites for the teenager will be conducted following medical protocols. According to the data from the Kerala Health Ministry, four individuals who tested positive for the Nipah virus have been categorized as “high risk”. These people are currently receiving treatment at Manjeri Medical College. Pandikkad, situated in the Malappuram district, is currently identified as the focal point of the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala. In a public announcement, George urged individuals residing in the vicinity of the outbreak epicenter and the neighboring medical facilities to wear masks while in public areas. People should refrain from visiting patients in hospitals. It has affected the state on four separate occasions in the past. Nipah outbreaks have been documented in Kozhikode district in 2018, 2021, and 2023, as well as in Ernakulam district in 2019. Additionally, the presence of Nipah virus antibodies has been identified in bats in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Idukki, Malappuram, and Ernakulam districts.
