According to IndiaToday.in, the athlete was suspended because he did not provide dope samples during the trials in Sonipat in March 2024. Bajrang had chosen not to give his urine sample after leaving the premises in frustration when he lost to Rohit Kumar. Bajrang Punia expressed his disagreement with NADA. He is claiming that their equipment was faulty.He emphasized that he had never declined a dope test before.

In a video lasting 2 minutes and 47 seconds, Punia presented doping test kits that he believed were expired. Additionally, Punia warned that he would take legal action against the authority. “I want to clarify the news regarding the dope test I was asked to take! I did not refuse to provide my sample to NADA officials. Instead, I asked them to address the issue of the expired kit they brought for my test before proceeding. My lawyer, Vidush Singhania, will respond to their letter in due course,” stated Bajrang Punia in the video.
