Paris Olympic: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Shooter Swapnil Kusale for clinching India’s third medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Kusale secured the third position in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux on Thursday.

Swapnil Kusale was born in 1995 into an agricultural family. He works as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with the Pune Railway Division. His father enrolled him in Krida Prabhodini. It is a primary sports program in Maharashtra, where after a year of rigorous physical training, Kusale selected shooting as his sport. In 2015, he claimed first place. He won a gold medal in the junior category for the 50m rifle prone 3 event at the Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait. He also triumphed at the 59th National Shooting Championship in Tughlakabad. He outperformed Gagan Narang and Chain Singh in the 50m rifle prone event. Kusale continued his winning streak at the 61st National Championship in Thiruvananthapuram, where he secured a gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 position event.
