Air India is currently conducting an investigation following a passenger’s claim of discovering a metal blade in their in-flight meal during a recent flight from Bengaluru to San Francisco. Air india blade controversy Journalist Mathures Paul was a passenger on flight AI 175 on June 9. He recounted his alarming experience on social media. Paul reported finding the blade in a fig chaat dish provided by Air India’s in-flight catering service. “I only realized it was in my food after chewing it for a few seconds. Upon spitting it out, I immediately identified the object,” Paul detailed in a post on X. “The flight attendant apologized briefly and returned with a bowl of chickpeas.” Expressing his concerns, Paul added, “Having a blade on board any flight is a safety hazard. It could have caused serious injury if it had cut my tongue. Moreover, what if a child had consumed this food?” Official statement of Air india. Air India has addressed the situation in a statement, where Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra verified the discovery of a foreign object in the meal. “We have conducted an investigation and traced the origin of the foreign object to a vegetable processing machine utilized by our catering partner,” Dogra stated. “Collaboratively, we are enhancing safety protocols, such as increasing the frequency of inspections on the processor. It happens particularly after handling tough vegetables.” Dogra refrained from addressing Paul’s assertion regarding the complimentary business class flight offered by Air India as compensation.
