Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new campus of Nalanda University on Wednesday. Recognizing the historical significance of the university, he emphasized that Nalanda represents the essence of India’s identity, respect, value, and philosophy. PM Modi in Nalanda University This visit mark’s Prime Minister Modi’s first official trip to the state since being sworn in for his third term. In his address to the audience, PM Modi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Nalanda so soon after taking office. He highlighted the enduring importance of the institution. He also visited the ancient ruins of Nalanda University in Bihar. It were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2016. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Nalanda University Chancellor Arvind Panagariya. Nalanda University new campus inauguration In addition to the distinguished guests mentioned above, foreign envoys from 17 countries, which include Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Mauritius, Myanmar, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, also attended the event. The campus is structured into two academic blocks, each equipped with 40 classrooms and a total seating capacity of approximately 1900. Furthermore, there are two auditoriums, each capable of accommodating 300 individuals. The student hostel has a capacity of around 550 people. Additionally, the campus boasts various amenities such as an international center, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 2000, a faculty club, and a sports complex, among others.
