Kamath assisted his father in the fruit trade during his formative years. At the age of 14, he left his village and relocated to Mumbai. He secured employment at his brother’s eatery in Mumbai. As per a report by Udayavani, Kamath ventured into the ice cream sector in February 1984 with a team of just four employees. Initially, his company offered a mere 12 ice cream flavors. To attract a larger customer base, Kamath introduced Pav Bhaji alongside his ice cream offerings. This strategic move proved successful in drawing numerous customers and enhancing his business. With the increasing popularity of Naturals Ice Cream, Kamath made the decision to focus exclusively on the ice cream industry and enhance the quality of his products. As of 2020, Naturals is estimated to be valued at approximately ₹400 crore and operates 135 outlets across India.
