The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended the main suspect responsible for the explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru. NIA arrested them from West Bengal. The suspects had been evading authorities for the past few days. They were captured at their undisclosed location in Kolkata. According to the NIA, Mussavir Hussain Shazib planted the IED at the cafe. Abdul Matheen Taha orchestrated the planning. He has the main role in the implementation of the explosion.

Both individuals were already sought in connection with a terrorism case from 2020. The NIA revealed that Abdul Matheen Taha was linked to the Bengaluru Module of ISIS — Al Hind. The NIA disclosed that the suspects were concealing their identities.

In an official statement, the NIA mentioned that the suspects were apprehended through a joint effort. It involves Central intelligence agencies and law enforcement officers from West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala. On March 29, the counter-terrorism agency published the photographs and information of the two suspects. Agency has offered a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to their capture. The agency had previously stated that Shazib was using the alias ‘Mohammed Juned Sayed’ to mask his identity. Taha, on the other hand, was utilizing Hindu identification papers. He has a counterfeit Aadhar card under the name Vignesh, as per the agency.In the previous month, the NIA detained Muzammil Shareef is a resident of Chikkamagaluru. He allegedly provided logistical assistance to the primary suspect.
