UGC guidelines
According to the new rules, colleges and universities have to set aside a maximum of 25% extra seats for students from other countries. However, it’s up to each school to decide if they want to do this. It is based on things like how many teachers they have and how much space they have. These extra seats are called supernumerary seats. They are seats that go beyond the normal number of seats that the school is allowed to have. The supernumerary seats that are set aside are only for international students. It is applicable for those studying at the undergraduate level and those studying at the postgraduate level. Students who are just visiting through an exchange program are not included. If there are any extra seats left over, they will be given to international students.Based on the rules, universities have to accept international students if their qualifications are equivalent to the requirements. It’s important to have a fair and open admission process so that students from other countries can easily apply. To make things easier for international students, universities have to create a special office just for them. This office will help with any services or support they may need. Also, universities have to keep track of information about international students on their websites. This information includes; how many there are and what programs they’re in.
