Vinesh Phogat has declared her retirement following her disqualification from the Olympics. She cited a lack of strength to continue her career. The 29-year-old athlete was disqualified for exceeding the weight limit by 100 grams just before her gold medal match in the 50kg category on Wednesday. She shared her decision through social media. I ask for your forgiveness; your aspirations and my resolve have both been shattered. I no longer possess the strength to carry on. Farewell to wrestling, 2001-2024. I will always be grateful to all of you. Please forgive me,” she added. She is seeking the awarding of a joint silver medal.She spent a significant portion of the day at a polyclinic within the Games village due to severe dehydration. She makes a lot of effort to lose 100 grams. It included fasting, refraining from fluids, and staying awake all night to induce sweating.An ad-hoc division of the CAS was established in Paris to address any disputes arising during the Olympic Games or within the ten days leading up to the Opening Ceremony. Vinesh’s appeal was scheduled to be reviewed in the coming hours.
