The state government has identified 10 such rivers that they believe can be restored. Hyanki has directed the DMs to create a plan of action for reviving these rivers and to find more if they can. Uttarakhand Secretary Arvind Hyanki reported that 317 villages and 148 urban areas are experiencing severe water shortages. Most complaints are coming from Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Didihat, Kotdwar, and Champawat. Other areas like Nawada, Haripur, Majri Mafi, Mohkampur, and Badripur are also facing water shortages, with residents relying on water tankers to survive.
