Suresh Raina came in at number three and started with a boundary but was caught out by Sohail Tanvir on his second ball, leaving India at 38/2. After losing two quick wickets, Rayudu decided to buckle down and put together a vital 60-run partnership with Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Rayudu reached his fifty in just 29 balls, with India in a strong position at 98/2 after 11 overs. Just when India seemed to be in control, Pakistan fought back by taking two quick wickets, dismissing Rayudu (50 off 30) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (34 off 33) within ten balls. Pakistan’s fielding errors towards the end of the innings allowed Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh to survive and build a crucial partnership of 42 runs.
