Despite a slow start in the first two overs, West Indies accelerated their scoring when Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran took charge against the pacers. However, Uganda managed to take wickets at regular intervals. Uganda prevents any Windies batsman from making a significant contribution or reaching a half-century. Uganda’s impressive bowling in the death overs restricted West Indies to a total of 174. It appeared challenging on the Guyana pitch. Uganda lost six wickets for only 22 runs in the first 37 balls of their innings. Hosein took five of those wickets, while Alzarri Joseph finished off the lower order to dismiss the visitors for just 39 runs in 12 overs. Hosein’s 5 for 11 is now the best bowling performance by a West Indies player in T20 World Cup history. He surpassed Samuel Badree 4/15 against Bangladesh in 2014. It is also the second best bowling figure for the team in T20I cricket. He is only behind Obed McCoy’s 6/17 against India in 2022.
