A Bengaluru housing society is going to punish its members with Rs 5,000 for using drinking water improperly.This decision is taken due to a serious water shortage in Bengaluru. To keep an eye on things, a special security personnel will also be assigned.
Severely affected areas of Bangalore
The Palm Meadows Society is situated in Whitefield. It is among the city’s most severely impacted regions. This is a result of the continuing water crisis.The other areas that have been badly affected include Kanakpura and Yelahanka.

Palm Meadows sent a note to the people. On that note, authorities stated that it had not gotten water from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for the previous four days. It stated that “we have been using our borewells a lot for a long time. Now we are at the risk of depletion of groundwater very soon”.The neighbourhood declared that to deal with the terrible situation. It has decided to reduce water use in each of its units by 20%. The notification warned that “If the resident fails to reduce water consumption by 20% (and meet the target), there will be an additional charge of Rs 5,000.” It went on to say that depending on supply, the cut can go up. It is expected to rise by forty per cent in the summer months.
