The BCCI revealed the team for the upcoming women’s Asia Cup 2024 on Friday, July 6. Out ofthe 17 players currently in the series against South Africa. 15 have been kept in the squadwhile Amanjot Kaur and Shabnam Shakil have been excluded.India squad for Asia cup 2024Shabnam Shakil was brought in late to boost the seam attack for all three formats but has notplayed for the national team yet. Meanwhile, all-rounder Kaur did not participate in any matchesduring the tour.The remaining members of the squad consist of the usual players, with Harmanpreet Kaurappointed as the team captain and Smriti Mandhana serving as her vice-captain. In addition tothe 15-member squad, the selection committee has designated Shweta Sehrawat, SaikaIshaque, Tanuja Kanwer, and Meghna Singh as reserve players.Women’s Asia cup 2024 scheduleThe ninth installment of the women’s Asia Cup is scheduled to commence on July 19 in SriLanka, with the competition’s final match set to take place on July 28.The event will feature eight teams, split into two groups. India is in Group A alongside Pakistan,UAE, and Nepal, while Group B consists of Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.The opening match will take place on July 19 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium,Dambulla, between UAE and Nepal.India will kick off their campaign against Pakistan at the same venue later in the day. Thetournament will be in T20 format and will act as a warm-up for the women’s T20 World Cup inBangladesh starting on October 3.India is the defending champion, having clinched the title in the previous edition held in 2022.They have emerged victorious in seven out of the eight editions held so far, with Bangladeshbeing the only other winner in 2018.
